Walden looks for opportunities to represent client views in forums for public policy that strengthen corporate responsibility. Examples of Walden’s involvement include:

  • Leading and participating in educational efforts through seminars, events and public meetings.
  • Testifying at governmental hearings or meetings with government entities.
  • Submitting formal comments on public policy initiatives to the U.S. Congress or government bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We also offer technical assistance, when appropriate, to policy makers, investors, and non-governmental organizations.

Walden has a rich history of providing expert testimony on matters of public policy on a wide variety of topics, including judicial and regulatory issues related to mercury pollution, tobacco divestment, indigenous people’s rights, South Africa divestment, pension fund regulations, Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, and corporate governance reforms.

Walden’s multi-year leadership advocating for “Say-on-Pay” to increase accountability on executive compensation culminated in a new mandate in 2010 with the inclusion of Say-on-Pay provisions in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
